Cead Mile Failte!

Greetings and welcome to the TribeOfCelts! We are a community that is dedicated to not only honoring, but also educating the world about the great peoples that were the Celts. And not only the Celts of Eire and Albion with whom more people familiar, but we also want to explore the peoples that were spread across most of Europe who were also considered Celtic people.

:bulletblue:Submission Policy: A must read for everyone! :D

Book Resources: Non-Fictional
:bulletblue:Celtic Gods, Celtic Goddesses by R.J. Stewart: A great book for those interested in the basic beliefs and customs of the Celts. It provides background on the Celts and their relationship to nature, their totem animals and, obviously, the gods and goddess they worshiped. (Recommended by *staticgirl). Available at Amazon.com: [link]

:bulletblue:The World of the Druids by Miranda J. Green: A wonderfully illustrated book that gives a great, historically accurate depiction of the Druids backed up with scholarly research. It discusses their traditions and the archeological evidence for it as well as delving into the Druids' resurgence in recent times. Highly recommended! (Author Recommended by *staticgirl). Available at Amazon.com: [link]

:bulletblue:The World of the Celts by Simon James: Companion to The World of the Druids. "In this generously illustrated introduction to the world of the Celts, Simon James charts their way of life from farming to feasting, their wars, their gods, and their superb craftsmanship. He covers the neglected subject of Celtic life under Roman rule, particularly in Gaul and Britain, and the continuing traditions in Ireland after AD 400." Available at Amazon.com: [link]

:bulletblue:Who Were The Celts by Kevin Duffy: A great book that goes over the history of the Celts as far back as archeology and the writings of other cultures can give us. It also includes excerpts about them from some of the few written written histories of the Celts. It gives a very broad collection of information and then lets you fit things how you see them based on the real facts and information. (Recommended by =LadyEdana). Available on Barnesandnoble.com: [link]

Book Resources: Fictional
:bulletblue:Druids by Morgan Llywelyn: This book is about the Celtic tribes all over central Europe, during the time that Caesar began to take over them. Vercingetorix is a main character. (Recommended by ~RenaDementia). Available at Amazon.com: [link]

:bulletblue:Celtika by Robert Holdstock: This is the first in a series of his The Merlin Codex it follows Merlin through out Europe way before Arthur's time, though King Arthur ties in eventually. Though the story starts in Finland, it winds up in the British Isles before halfway through. The Iron Grail is the next in the series, and there is a third on it's way. (Recommended by ~RenaDementia). Available at Amazon.com: [link]

:bulletblue:Circle of Stones by Anna Lee Waldo: Takes place in Wales in the medieval era. It follows the last of the Welsh druids before the Christians take over, and is a very good read. She even has historical sources in the back of the Welsh arriving in Southeastern Canada way before the Conquistadors. (Recommended by ~RenaDementia). Available at Amazon.com: [link]
